The success story of the Rexhi brothers began in the early 1990s when they fled their home country of Kosovo in the former Yugoslavia due to the civil war and sought refuge in Germany. In 1994, they founded the company REXHI in Mönchengladbach and supported their customers' production directly on their premises by manufacturing composite components for sports cars as well as for the rail vehicles of the Düwag company in Düsseldorf. The photo shows Mexhid Rexhi, the youngest of the three brothers.
After the company had established itself, it moved to its own premises in Düsseldorf for the first time in 2000 and gradually expanded its customer base for high-quality composite components.
Just four years later, the company moved to larger premises in Wassenberg, where it also took over customers from the dissolving MSM GmbH company. Since then, the company has been producing not only for the rail vehicle industry but also for other industries such as medical enclosures, tanning bed casings, truck exterior components, diving boards, cooling tower covers, industrial starters, and many other areas.
In 2007, the brothers founded Rexhi Duroplast Faserverbundtechnik GmbH and began establishing an internal quality management system, which was successfully certified to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000 by TÜV Rheinland in the same year. The ISO 9001 certification by TÜV Rheinland has been continuously maintained without interruption to this day.
Following the ISO 9001 certification in the previous year, in 2008, Rexhi Duroplast Faserverbundtechnik GmbH received its first appointment by Deutsche Bahn AG as an L1/Q1 supplier after undergoing comprehensive inspections and audits. As part of the company's focus on the rail vehicle industry, two employees also underwent intensive training and successfully obtained certification as adhesive specialists according to DIN 6701-2 for bonding in rail vehicles
The year 2009 marked a milestone in the modernization of production technology within the company group. The innovative RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) technology had been successfully implemented the year before. This manufacturing process was first used to produce engine covers for Bombardier in Aachen, marking its initial application in the production of composite components.
In 2012, the company relocated from Wassenberg to Erkrath near Düsseldorf, bringing it closer to the owners' private surroundings. At the same time, this move allowed them to provide not only new components but also excellent and fast on-site service to a new and important customer, the Rheinbahn in Düsseldorf. One year later, REXHI also registered and protected the company's logo as a brand to strengthen the brand identity and value of the REXHI brand in the market.
In 2013, to meet the highest quality standards, TÜV Rheinland certified our company with the CL4 welding certificate according to DIN EN 15085-2. Additionally, the company implemented a completely renewed quality system that digitally documents all process steps, always ensuring traceability. Just one year later, REXHI was successfully qualified by TC Kleben to perform adhesives according to DIN 6701-2 for bonding rail vehicles of class A2.
A milestone in the internal organization of the group was the implementation of the self-developed ERP system in 2016. Additionally, the company exhibited for the first time at the world's largest transportation technology exhibition, InnoTrans, in Berlin, in the same year.
In 2017, the Rexhi brothers established Rexhi Holding GmbH with its subsidiaries, Rexhi GmbH in Erkrath, and Forma Sh.p.k. in Gjilan, Kosovo. In the same year, construction commenced on modern workshops and spacious warehouses at the future headquarters of Forma Sh.p.k. in Bresalc. The following year, construction began on modern offices, workshops, and spacious warehouses at the future headquarters of Rexhi Holding GmbH and Rexhi GmbH in Hilden.
The company invested in the Giesenheide industrial area to construct its new headquarters. The move to the new premises took place in 2019. The new location provided more space for production, storage, and office facilities and was equipped with state-of-the-art machinery.
In 2021, the company initiated the acquisition of a 5-axis CNC machine, which was procured and successfully implemented the following year. With this machine, the Rexhi Group gained the capability to mill all the models required for tooling and precisely cut components to size in-house.
The autoclave acquired in 2022 was successfully installed and put into operation in 2023. With this high-quality equipment, the Rexhi Group will further expand its customer offerings, as it can now produce top-quality and highly durable carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFK) components.
